We Attended the Global Summit 2022 Hosted by 1% for the Planet
We’re thrilled to be a part of the awesome three-day Global Summit 2022: Los Angeles hosted by 1% for the Planet! Representing B&P were Managing Director Jamie Booth and Head of Sales Chris Mueller who definitely got great insights on what we can do as a business to help combat climate change.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary of inspiring people and organizations to give back to our environment and communities, 1% for the Planet hosted the Global Summit 2022: Los Angeles event last March 15 to 17, 2022, a three-day conference to inspire more individuals and businesses to take environmental action, innovation, and connection. Industry leaders, environmental experts, and the next generation gathered to answer one not-so-simple question: What’s next?

Every year, 1% for the Planet hosts a Global Summit event for its members to come together and share inspiration to lead the movement forward. 1% for the Planet was founded in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, the founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, to ensure that our planet and future generations thrive.
Being a global organization, they utilize their influence and connections to support environmental nonprofits through membership and daily actions. 1% for the Planet members give at least 1% of their total annual revenues (for businesses) or annual salary (for individuals) through monetary, in-kind, and promotional or volunteer activities.

Kicking off the event were amazing keynote speakers including Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet. We tackled pressing issues such as environmental action, resilience, innovation, and connection—the signs of our times.

There was much to talk about and celebrate—but even more to do if we want to truly make an impact. We wrapped the 3-day event with an afternoon beach clean-up in Santa Monica hosted by the Surfrider Foundation Los Angeles and 1% for the Planet.

The brand recognition of 1% for the Planet is growing every day, bringing in new members and educating many individuals and businesses. In 2021 alone, they welcomed more than 2,500 new business and individual members and drove more than $50 million in annual donations from members directly to nonprofit partners.

Global Summit 2022: Los Angeles was a great opportunity for us to innovate with the new ideas we learned. For Jamie and Chris, one of the best parts of the event is that they got to connect with amazing individuals and organizations with the same goal! With our wider network, we feel more supported and more positive about our plans for sustainability.
