From Measurement to Impact, We’re Taking Action on Climate Change

Climate Neutral recertification

The weather’s getting crazier, the news is full of climate warnings, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. But here’s the good news: even though the situation is daunting, we can all take concrete steps to improve our current situation.

At Booth & Partners, our commitment to climate action wasn’t born in a vacuum. In fact, a conversation with a client passionate about sustainability first sparked our interest in offsetting emissions and getting Climate Neutral certified. This experience underscored what our research already revealed: Climate neutrality should be the starting point, not the finish line. The true journey lies in making continuous progress towards further reducing our environmental impact through sustainable solutions.

Climate change is no longer a future threat – it’s happening now. From extreme weather events to rising sea levels, the impacts are being felt around the world. That’s why we’ve been Climate Neutral Certified for four years in a row and why we keep working on a comprehensive plan to tackle various environmental issues.

So, What Exactly is Climate Neutral Certification?

It’s a rigorous program that ensures companies like ours are transparent about their emissions. We meticulously measure carbon impact across all operations, from office energy use to material sourcing.

The Climate Neutral Certified label signifies a company’s accountability for greenhouse gases. To achieve certification, companies must:

  • Measure emissions annually, encompassing the entire product lifecycle (cradle-to-customer).
  • Implement concrete action plans for emission reduction.
  • Invest in verified, high-quality carbon credits.

Our 2023 emissions offset of 1,104 tCO2e is equal to taking 246 gas-powered cars off the road for a year, bringing our total carbon offset to 2,297 tCO2e since 2021!

But measuring isn’t enough. We also have a plan to reduce our impact. This year, we’re focusing on the following plans we’re currently implementing to reduce our emissions.

Climate Neutral plan

1. Supporting Local

Through a new sourcing policy, we’re increasing our local purchases to 25% by quarter three of 2024. Supporting local reduces our environmental footprint by shortening transportation distances, meaning less pollution from vehicles.

Local businesses often prioritize sustainable practices. Since products don’t travel far, less packaging is needed, contributing to a greener future. Additionally, choosing local supports their livelihoods, strengthens the local economy, and fosters a vibrant community.

2. Shifting to Sustainable Company Swag

We’re ditching disposable company swag and opting for reusable, sustainable alternatives. To minimize our carbon footprint, we look for climate-neutral certified vendors.

Plus, to encourage digital adoption, we convert 20% of Employee Onboarding Kit costs into points redeemable for digital resources.

3. Greener Tech Refresh

We’re implementing a policy of purchasing refurbished computers, monitors, and IT equipment, which will reduce our e-waste and environmental footprint.

4. Joining SeaTrees

We’re taking SeaTrees as our new carbon offset partner and starting our Ocean Positive journey with them. SeaTrees helps address climate change by restoring coastal areas like mangrove forests. By partnering with SeaTrees, we’re on track to become “Ocean Positive” certified, which shows we care about the ocean’s health and lets our clients choose a company that does, too.
